Horst Gläsker

Horst Gläsker (born in 1949) has played a decisive role in Germany’s and especially Düsseldorf’s art scene since the 1980s. As a pupil of Gerhard Richter and Karl Otto Götz he experienced the development of completely new artists and above all art personalities whose works visibly questioned previous conceptualities from art history. What is art? What can art be? What role does the artist play in the creation and reception of art?

These are questions that Gläsker has been asking himself, his works, and their audience since the very beginning of his career.  This interrogation simply had to produce an artist who works across different media and disciplines. Gläsker combines installations with architectures: just think of his works in public spaces / building art in Frankfurt, Oberhausen, Erfurt, and Gelsenkirchen.
