Diango Hernández (1970, Cuba) is a Cuban artist, he lives and works in Düsseldorf. His oeuvre is influenced by his socialization period in Cuba and also by the Cuban revolutionary culture.
References to American conceptual art can be seen in Hernández's works. His works have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale 2005, Sydney 2006 and São Paulo 2006.
Hernández's works show an intense engagement with the sea and waves - they are insignia of movement and the dynamics of life.
"The waves are the language of the sea. A language that can be used for painting to create images of a more fluid world, a world without rigidity, a fluid world." - Diango Hernández
"I was born near the sea, and it took me years to understand and appreciate this whole experience. When I made my first wave drawings years ago, I felt I had somehow 'arrived'." - Diango Hernández
