Udo Dziersk
Paintings on canvas and editions on paper
The Düsseldorf academy professor brings both drama and calm to his pictorial compositions.
Vita and exhibitions

Dziersk studied free painting at the art academies in Berlin, Karlsruhe and Düsseldorf between 1983 and 1988 under Georg Baselitz, Per Kirkeby and Gerhard Richter, among others, and was a master student of Markus Lüpertz. He has been a professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy since 2002. He has also been a visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Xi'an in China since 2017.
Udo Dziersk's works are regularly presented in solo and group exhibitions, including at: Museum Gelsenkirchen, Neuer Sächsischer Kunstverein Dresden, Akademie-Galerie Düsseldorf, Krefelder Kunstverein, Kunstverein Langenfeld, Cubus Kunsthalle Duisburg, Kunstverein KunstHaus Potsdam, Kokerei Zollverein Essen.
Tension between abstraction and figuration in Dziersk's works
Udo Dziersk's works bear his very own signature. They move in the field of tension between abstraction and figuration. Dziersk combines abstract elements and graphic structures with figurative depictions. The resulting compositions are both structural and expressive in a special way - dramatic and calm at the same time.
Visual worlds with depth
Udo Dziersk deals with themes such as time and transience, and is particularly concerned with human interaction and questions of being human. His visual worlds open up sometimes empathetic, sometimes critical perspectives with depth. However, they always leave room for associations and invite us to interpret the pictorial themes for ourselves.
