Lea Lenhart at the Kunstpalast
Proof of the artist's reputation is the purchase of the large-scale installation ‘Wasserwesen’ (Water Creatures), comprising 81 objects, from the renowned Hentrich Collection of the Düsseldorf Kunstpalast. This installation will be presented prominently in the permanent collection exhibition (from 19 November 2024).
Filigree glass objects
Lea Lenhart's objects consist of up to hundreds of small glass elements. The artist attaches the individual parts to a body embroidered with yarn and uses them to create three-dimensional objects with organic structures.
The artist produces most of her material herself. She melts glass, blows and pulls it into different shapes, tiny beads, plates, delicate rods, etc. Sometimes the individual glass elements are matt or opaque, sometimes sparkling and shiny. The variety is almost endless.
Under black light, you will experience a surprise with most of the objects: as with some deep-sea creatures, individual elements begin to glow, as Lea Lenhart uses fluorescent beads.
The delicate grace of the objects
Lea Lenhart's glass creations radiate a delicate grace. Some objects appear mysterious with their tentacles, others cheerful and atmospheric. With their filigree fineness and delicacy, the glass creations are simply fascinating!
Lea Lenhart's ‘Water creatures’
Inspired by the underwater world, Lea Lenhart's objects are based on marine animals and plants, such as corals, sea feathers, moss anemones and starfish. Many of the objects appear extremely lively, sometimes even dancing.
Lenhart's ‘water creatures’ make us feel the beauty and peculiarities of the marine world.
A tribute to nature
With her delicate objects, the artist draws attention to the fragility of the underwater world, which requires a careful balance and is threatened with destruction worldwide. Lenhart's ‘water creatures’ are a tribute to nature - and at the same time a reminder of its vulnerability.
Limited editions and unique pieces by Lea Lenhart
Lea Lenhart's glass objects are mostly one-offs or unique pieces.
In addition, the artist has designed two objects as strictly limited editions with a very small edition of only 10 pieces; the works in the edition are unique serial pieces, as each object is made individually by hand. The editions are already mounted under an acrylic glass cover, which is included in the price.
