Otmar Alt

Otmar Alt (*1940) studied at the art academy in Berlin in the 1960s. He is regarded as the old master of an art movement in Germany that is located between "Naive Painting" and "Pop Art". Its main phase was the 1990s and 2000s. Otmar Alt's "Naive Painting" is characterized by an interesting approach, namely a strong reduction and boldness. As a result, the themes of his paintings are deliberately exaggerated. The artist's figurative motifs are often hybrid or mythical creatures, and sometimes the scenes in the paintings seem to have sprung from a dream.

Artwork tip

► Otmar Alt's painting "Der Conferencier/ Master of Ceremonies": This painting by Otmar Alt dates from 1995 and, with its strong colors, belongs to the artist's Pop Art phase. As a large-format painting, it is a rarity by the artist and a delight for fans of the striking Pop Art of the 1990s!
