Erik A. Frandsen is a self-taught artist and is considered one of the best known contemporary Danish artists. Numerous exhibitions in renowned museums have honored his headstrong artistic approach, as well as the Dannebrogorden, the highest Danish state prize, which the artist received back in 2013. As a painter and graphic artist, Erik A. Frandsen manages to imbue his works with something that cannot be assigned to just one artistic technique or working method. His works oscillate between digital graphics, watercolor and print. print. The mixture between pale and expressive colors sometimes give the images the effect of a photo negative. Through a clever play of the division of the image areas, the works seem almost collage-like. In the 1980s, Erik A. Frandsen was part of the New Wild movement, which sought to redefine painting.
