Janosch (born Horst Eckert; 11 March 1931, Hindenburg, Upper Silesia) is known for his artistic illustrations and books for children – including those featuring a bear and a tiger – as well as for adults, such as the Wondrak series, which appeared in *ZEITmagazin* for many years. With his characteristic humour, Janosch takes a positive view of the small and big things in the world. His style is unmistakable. For his original artworks, he usually employs the highly labour-intensive classical technique of etching.
