Bernard Schultze

Bernard Schultze (1915-2005) was a painter, graphic artist and object artist and is a main representative of the Informel . Schultze is considered one of the great German artists of gestural painting of the German post-war modernism. He was represented three times at the documenta in Kassel. In 1952, together with Karl Otto Götz and others, he founded the artists' group Quadriga , the core group of informal painting. The works of Bernard Schultze show a lively handwriting and reveal many artistic allusions to nature and to its growth processes. Schultze's works can often be described as lyrical-abstract; they are rich in color, detail and show a certain meticulousness.
