Throughout his whole life Marc Chagall (1887–1985) remained faithful to his iconic painting style between impressionism, expressionism, and so-called “naive art”. People or still lives often float dreamily in night landscapes or in front of an empty background. The paintings and graphics look like allegorical or symbolic scenes and tell stories to the observer.  Marc Chagall often chose literary and religious texts as subjects, including the Bible and La Fontaine’s Fables, of which we can offer you two sheets of illustrations. “My images are constructions psychiques .
